My Favourite Places in Manchester

Before I left my parents' house, people were constantly telling me about how fun and diverse of a place Manchester is and they weren't wrong. It is an amazing place to be and I'm very glad I chose it as the place I had my first experience of living away from home.

Over the last year, I have grown especially fond of some specific places in Manchester.

These are some of my favourites.

The Northern Quarter

The Northern Quarter is undoubtedly my favourite part of Manchester. It is home to lots of really interesting independent venues. There are some really nice coffee shops such as Feel Good Club and Ezra and Gil, as well as numerous bars, restaurants and shops. I love the vibe in Stevenson Square and it is one of the parts of the city that I feel most at home in. The Northern Quarter is also home to Afflecks, a famous indoor market that has many quirky alternative businesses under its roof.

Media City

Media City is where all of the media-related buildings are. Some of the most notable places here are the University of Salford, the BBC and ITV buildings and The Lowry shopping centre. I've found Media City to be a great place to go for a walk and unwind after a long day. It looks especially beautiful at night when all the lights are on.

The UA92 Campus

From the moment I stepped into the UA92 campus, I knew I was welcome. It has a totally relaxed atmosphere and the staff and students are all very friendly. UA92 is such a new campus that only the first two floors are open so its a bit small for my liking at the moment but its still a wonderful place to be and I count myself lucky to be able to study on such a nice campus.

Market Street

Located in the heart of Manchester, Market Street is often the first thing that comes to people's mind when they think of the city centre. It is home to the Arndale shopping centre and lots of high street shops. The atmosphere here is electric and I find it really uplifting to be amongst the hustle and bustle.
